Nov. 25, 2023--Protocol 2023-197
Dear Catholic faithful,
As we near the Holy Season of Advent preparing to celebrate the earthly birth of Jesus around 2,000 years ago and also anticipating the second coming of Jesus Christ, Our Savior I greet you with His peace.
I am excited to proclaim the 2024 Liturgical Year as the “YEAR OF THE EUCHARISTIC REVIVAL”. This is a movement to restore understanding and devotion to the great mystery here in our archdiocese by helping us renew our worship, love, and devotion of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.
We shall open the “YEAR OF THE EUCHARISTIC REVIVAL” with Mass celebrated at 3 p.m. on THE FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT, DECEMBER 3, 2023 in the Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica. As the Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Agaña, I will be the presider. Priests of the archdiocese will join me as concelebrants. I ask that each parish and school have their respective banners processed during the entrance procession. They are requested to provide a banner bearer and two escorts. We invite the faithful to join us in this opening Eucharistic Liturgy.
We will center our Eucharistic Revival around the following four pillars:
• Personal Encounters: Bring your people to Jesus.
• Reinvigorating Devotion: Receive Jesus. Worship Jesus.
• Deepening Formation: Learn and preach the truth about Jesus.
• Missionary Sending: Go out and bring Jesus to the world.
Following this proclamation and as part of our archdiocesan-wide celebration honoring and worshipping Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist, numerous events, devotions, and activities will take place throughout the year in our archdiocese and on the parish level. We shall announce them accordingly.
The Prayer for the Archdiocese will be replaced with the EUCHARISTIC REVIVAL PRAYER and is to be recited at every Mass for the duration of the 2024 Liturgical Year along with a Universal Prayer to be included at the Masses.
I invite each of you to join me, the clergy and religious as we CELEBRATE AND HONOR Our Lord during this exciting, special year. Together let us renew our love for Jesus in the Eucharist!
Yours in Jesus Christ,
/s/Very Rev. Romeo Convocar
Apostolic Administrator
